Timon + Ursula | Engagement

I had the privilege of shooting my first couple of 2012! Timon & Ursula, you two look radiant together and bring so much life to those around you. Your obvious love for each other will keep you young and silly all through the wrinkles. I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I do!

The Asendorfs | Family

I just love this family. For so many reasons. And, I’m blogging their photos because I think they deserve to be seen and it’s been a while since the photoshoot last May! I’m slowly catching up, and my goal this year is to stay on top of blogging each and every session. I photographed these lovely folks in some overgrown weeds, quite beautiful weeds, actually, in a village called Dickbuch, and I was very thankful that the person whom the land belonged to didn’t come out and yell at us.

I definitely plan on using that area for future shoots until someone tells me not to because it was AMAZING.

Check out all this gorgeous family love, and tell em’ what you think.

Ilona | Golden Portraits

I kept repeating in my head “Don’t shoot with the 50,” before leaving to make family and personal photos for Ilona. It was a beautifully warm day, and I wanted to try something new. I have an amazing portrait lens that I never use, so instead of shooting everything on my nifty fifty, which is was I LOVE to do because you can hardly beat the 1.8 depth of field, I decided to pull out my 80-200 and see what happened. I felt very comfortable shooting with the heavy thing since I had lots of practice borrowing this lens in college. The results, the bokeh, the lighting, the depth of field, were all great! I love my fifty, but it may be going on a break for a while. It was fun to lay on the ground and shoot through the hay and thistles to get these gorgeous golden shots. And Ilona… can I just say, “wow!” This is just a sneak peak, though, so make sure to come back for more of luminous Ilona and her awesome family in a few days.

a morning with christelle

Below are some of my favorite shots from my session with the talented and lovely Christelle. She was born in France but is now living in Winterthur, Switzerland. She came to me about doing a photoshoot of her and I just about jumped out of my seat for the opportunity. I knew a little of her powerful jazz voice from her work with Soma Sonic, which is luscious and beat-induced music, guaranteed to get you moving, and her harp-playing. She teaches music and voice lessons at the same school as my husband, so we knew each other a little bit before meeting on this cold February morning. You can listen to her here and see her face on the cover of the “Simplicity” album. “Simplicity” by Soma Sonic is also available on Itunes… and I’m telling you, it’s really great stuff.

I’m sure you can see why I was so excited to get these up for the world to see. These images tell such a beautiful story about who she is as a musician and a strong woman, comfortable in her own skin. She played the harp and sang in the middle of a public sidewalk and it was as if we were the only two people in the world.
